Roofing Contractors Have Their Hands Full

The economy is scooting along and our roof repair business is no different. The roofing industry as a whole is doing very well. Everybody is working. Which may be the reason you are not getting your calls answered. I have spoken to many homeowners that say it’s hard to get a response and have a contractor come out and have a look at their leaking roof.

A1 Local Roofing prides ourselves on our quality of service, which includes the service leading up to the sale. That’s the part when we come out and introduce ourselves and review roof repair costs average, and provide you with a leaking roof repair estimate.

Austin roofing companies are busy and so are we. But this is how we are able to distinguish ourselves from the competition.

The industry is influenced by new home construction and storm-related damage repairs. And there is really no one predicting any slow down anytime soon.

The construction industry is booming for our clients, and experts are predicting continued growth,” says Ed Lloyd, CPA, whose public accounting firm specializes in construction and business development. “This growth includes the commercial and residential markets for new and existing building. The growth and need for construction has improved the margins as contracts are able to increase their prices with the increased demand.

However, with oil prices having risen and recent declarations of U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, roofing contractors are likely to be dealing with more inflation this year for their supplies of shingles and gutter material.

The shortage in available labor also has a negative impact on companies top and bottom line. Most state they could be doing more business if they had more workers.

Worker shortages are not only pressuring bottom lines but also top-line revenue. The National Roofing Contractors Association has called the chronic shortage of qualified workers the top limitation on roofing employers’ ability to grow their businesses.

The Roofing Industry Continues Its Upward Slope Mary Ellen Biery, Contributor.

It’s no secret we need more plumbers and HAVAC contractors. If you have called either, it’s a hefty fee just to have them come out and take a look at your problem. And then the costs for them to fix your problem is outrageous. That’s what happens when you command the market.

It appears the roofing industry is succumbing to the same forces that are effecting plumbers and HVAC industry. A1 Local Roofing will always strive to provide the service you deserve. That is our number one guarantee we offer you, the customer. Give us a try. 512-537-4408

Why Choose A Metal Roof

The majority of the work we do is the traditional shingle. But we get asked on many different occasions to explain the metal roof. Folks want to know if there is a difference and why someone may choose a metal roof versus the traditional shingle.

Our work takes us to all types of jobs. We talk with residents that need a simple leaking roof repair or call us for a full roof replacement and need a reliable Austin roofing company.

So if you have been needing some repair work or have been thinking about replacing the entire roof, here are some things to consider if you’ve wondered about metal.

Other than metal having a nice look, there are some things to consider other than ascetics. The metal is actually lighter than a shingle, therefore there is less of a load on the house. This will have more long-term consequences. Folks also like the fact that it is less expensive than going with other alternatives, such as slate or clay tiles, as well.

It’s versatile enough to use on either a steep or flatter roof and has fewer joints. Having fewer joints makes for fewer issues down the road relating to weather seepage.

Charity Roof Repair During National Roofing Week

To raise awareness of the importance of roofs to not only homeowners but to businesses alike, the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) has established a special week once a year. It’s called National Roofing Week, and it is taking place June 4-10 2018.

It’s a time to recognize the brotherhood that exists in the roofing industry and tip the cap to all those that make roofing their livelihood. A nod to all those that consider this singular profession to be their reason for getting up in the morning.

Outsiders may view the industry as mundane. It’s not uncommon for the homeowner to take their roof, and all that it provides, for granted. Until the homeowner is in need a roof repair that is and needs someone to call.

This special week is set aside to recognize professional roofers, and it turns out it’s something more than a bunch of industry insiders slapping each other on the back. Which culminates into a self-aggrandizing ceremony with secret handshakes.

No, it turns out that during National Roofing Week, the industry promotes good deeds performed by the roofing industry and emphasizes the value of the trusted roofing contractor. There are even roofing projects donated to those in need.

During the week the NCRA asks it’s members to engage in the community and build awareness about the essential role roofs, and hiring a trained roofing contractor, plays in local communities.

In years past, good deeds properly promoted serve to raise such awareness. In 2015 for example, former president of the NCRA Nelson Braddy led an effort to provide a new roof for a non-profit.

 2015 Momentous Institute Project

The Momentous Institute has been building and repairing social emotional health for more than 90 years. The Dallas-based organization serves 6,000 kids and family members directly each year through mental health programs and a social emotional health-based curriculum at its nationally acclaimed Momentous School. The Momentous Institute also invests in research, innovative program development and training in an effort to help the children it cannot serve directly. In 2014, the Momentous Institute trained more than 4,500 educators and clinicians, affecting 112,500 children.

Various companies donated materials for the project. H&E Equipment Services, Baton Rouge, La., donated a lift; Johns Manville, Denver, donated the TPO membrane; OMG Roofing Products, Agawam, Mass., donated fasteners and plates; Roofing Supply Group LLC, Dallas, donated the skylights and roof hatch rail; and Rmax, Dallas, donated the polyisocyanurate insulation. Jim Whitten Roof Consultants LLC, Austin, Texas, provided the design services.

The schedule below is taken from NCRA’s web site of 2018 National Roofing Week social media themes:

Sunday, June 3: National Roofing Week Kickoff/Intro Video

Monday, June 4: Employee appreciation

Tuesday, June 5: Employee training

Wednesday, June 6: Charity

Thursday, June 7: Showcase signature residential and commercial projects

Friday, June 8: How NRCA Members celebrated/Announcement of Children’s Art Contest winners

Saturday, June 9: National Roofing Week Wrap-up Video

NCRA members are encouraged to celebrate the week by lending their services in a charitable way to organizations throughout their own communities.

National Roofing Week 2018 June 3-9, 2018

Organized by NRCA, National Roofing Week takes place each summer. Its mission is to increase awareness across the U.S. about the significance of roofs to every home and business and share the good deeds of the industry. National Roofing Week also promotes the importance of hiring a professional roofing contractor and making informed decisions about maintaining or replacing any roof system.

The roof is one of the most important components of a home or business’ structure, yet it is often taken for granted until it falls into disrepair. NRCA encourages members to participate in National Roofing Week by engaging in their communities and informing the public about the essential role roofs and professional roofing contractors play in every community.

In celebration of National Roofing Week, NRCA hosts an annual Children’s Art Contest, sponsored by A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply and the International Roofing Expo® (IRE). NRCA members and their employees can participate by having their children, grandchildren, step-children, nieces and nephews enter artwork in the contest.
